Overview
Laptop owners on Mac or Windows get high capacity backup storage in a slim aluminum case. The LaCie Mobile Drive draws power from the USB cable, connects by USB-C or USB, and ships with software for customized backups.
Bundled data recovery service adds a safety net, so a damaged drive or deleted folder is not the end of your files. Transfers run at hard disk speed, which feels slow when moving large video projects.
Who it's for
Students, travelers and home users backing up a Mac or Windows laptop. Editors working directly off an external drive will want faster SSD storage.
Pros and cons
- Rescue Data Recovery Services included
- USB-C and USB 3.0 cables in box
- Bus powered, no adapter
- Backup software included
- Hard disk speed, not SSD
- Some spec lines contradict each other
Performance notes
Transfer speed is set by the spinning disk, not the USB-C port, so moving large files takes hard disk time on either cable. Bus power means one cable carries both data and power.
