Overview
Petzl pairs two ANGE wire-gate carabiners with a Dyneema FINESSE sling to make a quickdraw for alpine climbing and mountaineering. The MonoFil Keylock design is meant to clip and unclip smoothly without the snagging of traditional wire gates.
Weight conscious climbers gain most, since the lightest S+S configuration cuts the rack down. Longer pieces handle better on the rope. The limitation is that the configuration is not named, so you may not receive the weight or handling you expect.
Who it's for
Alpine routes and mountaineering where each gram is carried for hours. Climbers who want the easiest clipping handling should look at the larger configuration, and anyone who needs certainty on sizes must confirm with the seller.
Pros and cons
- Ultra-light wire gate carabiners
- Dyneema sling is slim
- Rope end carabiner stays oriented
- Keylock avoids gate snagging
- Configuration not named in the listing
- Wire gate design only
- Strength ratings missing
Performance notes
A wire gate is a thin loop, which cuts weight, and the Keylock nose reduces the snag points on the clipping side. The STRING positioner holds the rope end carabiner in the correct orientation so the rope runs the right way. A short sling makes the quickdraw compact, while a longer one reduces rope drag.
