Overview
C.A.M.P. made the Photon Express KS Janja for onsight climbing, pairing light aluminum Photon carabiners with a dogbone of variable width webbing. The Sphere Lock closure replaces a traditional keylock and gives a cleaner nose profile for clipping.
The reason to look at it is the light weight and the clipping design meant for fast sport routes, as a ready six pack. The limitation is the absence of published strength or gate figures, so a climber needs to check the markings on the gear.
Who it's for
Sport climbers who want light quickdraws with a wide, easy-to-grab dogbone for projecting routes. Anyone who needs a longer draw should note the description says another length exists, and ratings must be checked elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Six quickdraws in one pack
- Sphere Lock closure, clean nose
- Wide dogbone is easy to grab
- Karstop Evo retainer on rope end
- Strength ratings not listed
- Single short length in this listing
- Pink only in this listing
Performance notes
Smooth clipping comes from the cleaner nose profile of the Sphere Lock closure, which snags less than a keylock notch. The variable width webbing gives a thicker section to grab when working a route. The retainer on the rope end is there to hold the carabiner in position for clipping.
