Overview
A student or traveler with a laptop full of documents gets a small black backup drive that encrypts its contents and runs backups with the included software. It connects with the supplied USB-A cable.
Light enough to forget in a bag, it covers the backup basics with encryption and ransomware-aware software. One terabyte fills quickly with video, and the USB-A cable needs an adapter for USB-C-only laptops.
Who it's for
Suited to students and casual users backing up schoolwork and phone photos. Videographers will run out of room quickly.
Pros and cons
- Very light for daily carry
- Backup software included
- Works on older USB ports
- Xbox console listed as compatible
- Fills quickly with video
- USB-A cable only
- Listed read speed looks doubtful
Performance notes
Capacity, not speed, is the limit for most owners: the mechanical drive copies at hard disk pace, and video eats space quickly. Encryption happens in hardware, and backups run through the Acronis software.
