Overview
Working the ball both ways with irons is what the Callaway Chrome Soft X suits, a tour ball with a Hyper Elastic SoftFast core and Tour Aero design. Yellow Triple Track lines give a high visibility alignment aid.
Spin consistency and control are the case for it, so shots react the same way round after round. Ball speed off the tee stays high for fast swings. Golfers who need forgiveness more than shotmaking will find little gained.
Who it's for
Better players with faster swings who want to work iron shots and control spin into greens. High handicap golfers will be better served by a softer, more forgiving design.
Pros and cons
- Tour level short game spin
- Workable iron shots
- High ball speed off the tee
- Yellow lines easy to spot
- Ball count not listed
- Suited mainly to fast swings
- Layer count not given
Performance notes
Spin consistency comes from the cover and layered build, which lets wedges and irons respond the same way each time. Fast swings load the core for ball speed. The yellow track lines are easier to find in the rough and show putt roll clearly.
