Overview
Freeze dried raw beef mini nibs from Vital Essentials, made mostly of muscle meat, organs and bone with no grain, corn, wheat or soy. The 25 oz bag works as a complete meal or as a topper mixed into kibble, and the nibs are sized for dogs of any breed size.
This is raw feeding without the freezer. Freeze drying keeps the meat shelf stable while skipping the rendering and cooking steps regular kibble goes through, so the ingredient list stays close to whole beef, organ and bone. Vital Essentials makes it in the US under the Carnivore Meat Company name and ranks it among the better selling freeze dried dog foods on Amazon.
- 25 oz resealable bag
- Suitable for all life stages and all breed sizes
- Made by Carnivore Meat Company in the US
- Ranked in the top 10 freeze dried dog foods on Amazon
Who it's for
Owners moving a dog toward a raw or limited ingredient diet, or anyone who wants a grain free topper that adds more than flavor. Less suited to owners who need a low cost everyday kibble, since freeze dried food costs more per pound.
Pros and cons
- 96% beef, organs and bone with a short ingredient list
- Works as a full meal or a kibble topper
- Grain, corn, wheat and soy free
- No added antibiotics, hormones or artificial preservatives
- Freeze dried format costs more per pound than kibble
- 25 oz bag is a small size for daily feeding of larger dogs
Performance notes
Freeze drying removes moisture without heat, so the beef, organs and bone keep more of their original structure than cooked kibble does. The mini nibs are small and crunchy, which lets them double as a topper that mixes evenly into a bowl of regular food rather than sitting on top in large chunks.
