Overview
Budget-priced and built around the basics, the Aofar HX1000 laser rangefinder covers range, speed, scan and angle modes out to a claimed 1000 yards.
The 7x magnification and small housing keep it pocketable for archery seasons where weight matters.
- Range, speed, scan and angle modes
- Up to 1000 yards with claimed +-1 yard accuracy
- 7x magnification, 140g weight
- Switches between yards and meters
Who it's for
Fits archery hunters and budget-focused rifle hunters who want a working rangefinder without paying for premium optics. Not the choice for anyone shooting in low light, since the display is hard to read as dusk sets in.
Pros and cons
- Low cost relative to name-brand rangefinders
- Reported to survive rain and snow exposure
- Simple single-button operation
- Compact and light enough for a pocket
- Ocular view described as narrow, like a peephole
- LCD digits are hard to read as light fades
- Angle mode useful only if you know ballistics
Performance notes
One reviewer left it out in rain and snow for over a week with no issue reported afterward, and another noted the angle mode requires the user to already know their ballistics to make the reading useful.
