Overview
A home office desk in the UK is where this Western Digital drive belongs, adding large add-on storage to a Windows PC over USB. A mechanical desktop disk in a polycarbonate case, it draws power from its UK adapter and connects through the included cable.
Capacity is the reason to buy: one drive holds years of photos, video and system backups, and it works without setup on Windows. As a desktop disk it stays on the desk near an outlet, and the UK packaging limits it outside that market.
Who it's for
Home and office users in the UK with growing photo, video or backup folders get bulk storage that plugs in and works. Travelers and buyers outside the UK should look for a portable or region matched model.
Pros and cons
- Large capacity in one drive
- Plug and play on Windows PCs
- Backward compatible with USB 2.0
- USB cable included
- UK adapter, not for other regions
- Needs mains power, not portable
- Mechanical disk, sensitive to drops
- Transfer speed not listed
Performance notes
Speed depends on the mechanical disk inside and the USB port, with a port of the newer USB standard avoiding the older one's bottleneck. As a spinning drive it does its job on a stable desk, away from bumps during transfers.
